We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the Community Foundation of White County’s Community Cares Round 1 Grants, totaling $45,000. Community Cares Grants, funded by unrestricted donations to the Community Foundation, are designed to address a wide range of community needs such as youth education, historic preservation, civic engagement, and so much more.
General unrestricted gifts are placed into the Community Cares Fund, an endowment that supports these granting opportunities that uplift our partners in the community doing important work. Additionally, over 30 named unrestricted endowments bolster our efforts in supporting the community that we call home.
Lafayette Transitional Housing Center received funding to support its Rural Homelessness Outreach Program. Since launching this program in October 2023, 171 people in their rural delivery area have received services to restore stability and hope.
North White School Corporation’s project helps bring field trips across the globe (and even beyond!) right into the classroom. With virtual reality headsets, students have the opportunity to explore historical sites, outer space, and the human body in an interactive and engaging way.
Bright Beginnings Childcare Ministry, hosted at the Monticello Christian Church, is working to increase safety at their center with an updated security system. Updating their facility will provide peace and comfort for the 110 families that they serve.
Honey Creek Township has been transforming the Historic Reynolds School, now a community center dedicated to hosting community events, parties, church congregations, and more. Their grant is helping to fund the preservation of their school gymnasium floor.
North Central Nursing Clinic’s Community Cares Grant will support maternal and child health by funding lead machines and eye screeners. These devices will help detect or prevent issues for our children and pregnant mothers in the White County area.
Thank you to all the donors who make these grants possible! Donations of any size at any time may be given to support the Community Cares Fund. Many individuals and families have chosen to establish their own unrestricted (discretionary) fund to provide ever-lasting support to the community they love so dearly. Thank you for your steadfast dedication!
