We are thrilled to announce the recipients of our Community Cares Round 2 Grants, totaling $ 50,843. Community Cares Grants, funded by unrestricted donations to the Community Foundation of White County, are designed to address a wide range of community needs such as youth education, historic preservation, civic engagement, and so much more.
General unrestricted gifts are placed into the Community Cares Fund, an endowment that supports these granting opportunities that uplift our partners in the community doing important work. Current donations into the Community Cares Fund are being matched 2:1, tripling your impact in White County!
Monticello Fire & Rescue Association received funding to support its paramedic training, which is providing state-wide support to EMS professionals. The grant will help the program purchase training equipment and materials.
Food Finders Food Bank is partnering with Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) for a Community Cares Grant. Together with MIH, emergency food boxes will be delivered to the homes of neighbors in need.
Servants at Work (SAWs) received a grant to support its mission of building independence for low-income Hoosiers with disabilities. With this funding, two wheelchair accessible ramps will be built in White County.
Christ Fellowship Church is using their grant to purchase diapers and wipes for its new Diaper Bag Ministry. This “diaper bank” partners with local agencies like the White County Food Pantry and the Family Health Clinics to deliver these important items to families in need.
The Family Health Clinics in Wolcott and Monon will be using their grant to purchase blood pressure monitors for patients that otherwise cannot afford them, empowering the clinic to offer more comprehensive and personal care.
The Tri-County School Corporation received a Community Cares Grant to support its backpack program. Each weekend, children with food insecurity bring home backpacks filled with nutritious goods to ensure families don’t go hungry. This important mission is serving over 70 students weekly.
White County United Way’s Community Cares Grant will support the Recovery Café, a program that promotes client partnership and communal accountability for all people on their healing journey. This grant meets United Way's membership requirements for accessing program training and resources, while also securing $100,000 in additional funding from the Recovery Café Network over the next two years.
The City of Monticello continues to prioritize accessibility upgrades through the Mayor’s Advisory Council for the ADA. This grant will purchase child accessible swings for children of all disabilities in the Monticello parks.
Thank you to all the donors who make these grants possible! Donations of any size at any time may be given to support the Community Cares Fund, with contributions currently being matched 2:1. Many individuals and families have chosen to establish their own unrestricted (discretionary) fund to provide ever-lasting support to the community they love so dearly. Thank you for your steadfast dedication!
