Governing Council Mini Grants Empower Local Impact

Each year, your Community Foundation of White County empowers its Governing Council members to play a hands-on role in strengthening our community through Governing Council Mini Grants. These $1000 grants allow each member to identify a local project or program that resonates with their personal passions — bringing their own leadership and insight to the grantmaking process.

Funded through the Foundation’s unrestricted donations, these grants are a shining example of how flexible community dollars can respond to needs and opportunities as they arise. Whether supporting youth programs, preserving history, caring for veterans, or enhancing quality of life in our towns, each grant represents the heart of philanthropy in action.

While more will be awarded later this year, we’ve already seen exciting initiatives made possible through this opportunity. So far in 2025, Governing Council members have designated grants to:

  • Boys & Girls Club of White County for mission support — Stephanie Long

  • White County Historical Society for mission support — Dave Shook

  • Brookston American Legion to support building upgrades — Steve Simmerman

  • Tri-County School Corporation to enhance its choral department — Nancy Demerly

  • Monticello First Presbyterian Church to provide veteran food boxes — Greg Bossaer

  • Town of Monon to support development of its new pickleball court — Jim Annis

  • WIC to support its mission serving families in need — Shari Moore

  • Purdue Extension Homemakers to purchase new displays and security for fair week — Cindy Campbell

  • Monticello United Methodist Church to support Pack Away Hunger — Dave Kilmer

  • Boys & Girls Club of White County to expand its mental health initiatives — Kristin Post

  • White County Council on Aging for mission support — Mike Crabb

Each mini grant may be modest in size, but together they create lasting ripples of good across White County — touching lives, strengthening organizations, and showcasing the power of local leadership in action.

As Governing Council members thoughtfully direct these grants, they deepen their understanding of our community’s needs and celebrate the spirit of generosity that makes our county strong.
