The Community Foundation of White County is proud to welcome the fourth cohort of the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) consisting of 21 bright and passionate students representing all four county school corporations. This dynamic group of young leaders is stepping into an exciting year of service, learning, and impact.

The new cohort kicked off their journey with orientation on August 18th, where they experienced a mix of learning, teamwork, and fun. Tori Lynn Photography generously provided professional headshots and a class photo to mark the occasion, while Mitchell’s Mexican Grill fueled the group with a delicious meal. Students engaged in interactive “get to know you” activities designed to build on each other’s strengths and foster trust and collaboration. They also learned about the history of YPC, the Community Foundation, and the incredible difference these organizations have made throughout White County.

YPC members will once again take the lead in building, marketing, and awarding their own grants to support school initiatives this year. Since the program’s creation, YPC has awarded more than $45,000 to White County school corporations, funding projects that enhance learning environments, upgrade equipment, strengthen safety, and much more. This year’s group is eager to continue that legacy of impact.

Participation in YPC goes far beyond awarding grants. Students are required to complete 10 volunteer hours per semester, directly serving their community and gaining first-hand experience in civic engagement. Throughout the year, they will also grow as leaders through panel discussions, tours, and specialized trainings, gaining exposure to programs, professionals, and skills that will shape their future.

The Community Foundation is thrilled to see the growth and enthusiasm of this new cohort. Together, these 21 students are not only learning how philanthropy works, they are living it, shaping a stronger, brighter future for White County.

Representing White County this year includes: Mariah Anstett (Tri-County), Sophia Culp (Tri-County), Ava Getz (Twin Lakes), Addison Govert (Frontier), George Govert III (Frontier), Brooklyn Greene (North White), Ella Grennes (Twin Lakes), Paige Gutwein (Twin Lakes), Sami Hindi Jr. (Frontier), Lillie Jaynes (Frontier), Chase Maddox (Frontier), Chase Pekny (Frontier), Harvey Plantenga (Twin Lakes), Payge Priest (Twin Lakes), Ana Rodriguez (Twin Lakes), Shaylen Shepherd (Frontier), Emmalyn Stockment (Frontier), Blake Turner (Frontier), Katelyn Westerhouse (North White), Alayna Williams (North White), and Ellie Zarse (Twin Lakes).

We can’t wait to watch this incredible group of young leaders make their mark in the year ahead!
