As we step into a new season, it’s hard to ignore the energy that comes with it—the warmth returning to the air and fresh green growth emerging from the ground below. After months of winter’s stillness, there’s a natural pull to get outside, reconnect, and embrace something new.

At your Community Foundation of White County, we are proud to support projects that enhance quality of life across our community, especially those that invite people outdoors to gather, explore, and simply enjoy time together. Because we know that some of the most meaningful moments happen close to home, surrounded by the people and places we love.

Across the county, opportunities to play, learn, and connect continue to grow. From the splash pads in Monon and Chalmers—bringing endless summer fun for families—to improvements in parks large and small, each investment helps create spaces where memories are made. Accessible ramps, inclusive swings, updated equipment, and even essential amenities like restroom facilities all play a role in making our parks welcoming and comfortable for everyone.

At Altherr Nature Park, the amphitheater has become a vibrant gathering place for the community. Throughout the summer months, it comes alive with concerts, festivals, and nature-based programming that invite people of all ages to experience the outdoors in new ways.

In Monticello, the Riverwalk project continues to take shape as a transformational effort for our community. With the plaza now in place and trails gradually winding through the woods, this project is creating a beautiful connection between downtown and our beloved lakes—offering both residents and visitors a new way to experience the heart of our county.

These projects, along with many others, reflect a shared commitment to creating spaces where people can gather, grow, and thrive together.

As the days grow longer and the season unfolds, we invite you to take full advantage of all that White County has to offer. Whether it’s a walk along a trail, an evening concert, or a simple afternoon at the park, you don’t have to travel far to find joy, connection, and a breath of fresh air.
