The autumn season set the perfect backdrop as about 30 people gathered at Whyte Horse Winery for an evening of fellowship, food, and philanthropy. The Women Giving Together (WGT) Graze & Gather event, hosted by the Community Foundation of White County, celebrated connection and community impact among those who care deeply about White County’s future.
With charming Halloween décor, a full taco bar, and the warmth of the winery’s hospitality, guests enjoyed a cozy, intimate atmosphere to learn more about WGT’s mission. The group was especially delighted to welcome many new faces curious to see how this giving circle is changing lives close to home.
Founded in 2006, the Women Giving Together Fund was created by a group of local women who believed that small contributions, when pooled together, could create big change. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to unite women in purposeful giving to strengthen and uplift women and children in White County. Over the past 19 years, that collective spirit has grown into a thriving giving circle that has awarded more than $175,000 in grants to programs supporting everything from early childhood education and family well-being to leadership development and mental wellness initiatives. Each dollar given through WGT is invested back into the community—helping create a ripple effect of compassion, opportunity, and empowerment that continues to expand year after year.
During the evening, Nikie Jenkinson from the Carroll-White Child Abuse Prevention Council shared how last year’s WGT grant helped uplift their work—advocating for families, supporting social workers, and building awareness around child abuse prevention. Guests also heard from committee member Sue Schlimme, who highlighted another meaningful way to make an impact: by serving on the WGT committee. Committee members help plan events, review grant applications, and collaborate to continue growing this inspiring circle of giving.
As conversations lingered and laughter filled the room, one thing was clear—a good time was had by all, and the spirit of generosity that defines Women Giving Together continues to grow stronger with each gathering.
