What’s in a name?
For your Community Foundation of White County, it’s a lot.
The first word of our name – Community – tells you exactly what we’re about: community. Your community.
In 2014, we changed our name from White County Community Foundation to the Community Foundation of White County. A minor change, you might think, but a very conscious one on our part.
For us, community comes first! Everything we do is about community -- from talking with donors and helping them create legacy funds to carry out their charitable interests…to managing annual disbursements from donor funds…to awarding dozens of scholarships and grants every year…to working with other organizations and nonprofits in the community on a variety of initiatives, including Leadership White County. Strengthening our White County community is our mission, and we are truly honored to work with donors and other community partners who feel the same way.
Secondarily, it might clear up any misconception that we are funded by county government. Your community foundation, like all community foundations around the country and the world, are independent nonprofit organizations funded solely by individuals and organizations who believe that local philanthropy has unique power to positively impact and strengthen communities.
Next year, your Community Foundation will celebrate 25 years of partnering with generous donors, grantees, nonprofits, community leaders and everyday citizens to strengthen and transform our community by community leaders and everyday citizens to strengthen and transform our community by fostering charitable giving, philanthropic aspirations, and leadership.
Yes, your Community Foundation of White County is all about community!
